Idoha
Thanks to Kathy and Ron, without their recommandations we would not have seen so many beautiful spots; especially for them this article is in English.

After Alvord Desert the hurricane Hillary was expected with heavy rain and flooding also in Idoha. We had planned to go to Leslie Gulch, but we changed our plans as we did not want to be next to a Canyon and in a remote area with such a weather forecast.
We did not expect something special from Idoha, it was just a state to be passed on our way to Yellowstone, but we saw a beautiful landscape and we met very kind people.
We will always have Idoha in best memories.

After Alvord desert we passed a gorgeous landscape ....

... and arrived in Wilder where we stayed for one night next to the snake river. They grow hops here as they do in the area in Germany where I was raised.

Our next stop was the Three Island Crossing State Park next to Glenns Ferry and next to the winery Y Knot. Here we stayed for three days until any potential impact of the hurricane was gone. We had some quiet days reading and tasting wine. Here we met Kathy and Ron. Kathy recommeded us some spots and a campsite on our further way.

The first tip were the Shoneshon Falls:

Next we visited the Craters of the Moon National Monument and enjoyed the gorgeous view to the lava flows from our campsite.

We walked to the top of the Inferno Cone ...

.. and hiked the North Crater Trail and the Broken Top Loop Trail.

From our next campsite we had a perfect view to the Grand Tetons and we met Kathy and Ron again.

The two invited us to a great dinner and we had a very nice evening with them before ...

.. we went on to the Mesa Falls and Yellowstone Nationalpark

Right now we drove 22.500 km and here a overview of that part of our journey:
